KiaMotors, a sister-company of Hyundai Motors & the second-largest automobile-maker in South Korea has forayed into the Indian market.

It will produce a compact sedan & a compact SUV especially for the Indian domestic market.

The company signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Andhra Pradesh (AP) government for setting up the plant.

The 600 acres manufacturing facility at Anantapur district is expected to start production in the second half of 2019 & produce around 3 lakh units each year, commencing local sales towards the end of 2019.

Kia believes construction of the new manufacturing facility in India will enable it to maintain its position as one of the world’s fastest-growing automobile brands.

Kia produces over 3 million vehicles a year in five countries with a distribution network in 180 countries.
