‘A package should save more than it costs’: Tetra Pak

Six decades ago, an idea that changed the way the world buys, consumes and stores food was born, named Tetra Pak. The innovation addressed a social problem of food spoilage and its impact on human health.
  • Tetra Pak was the first mover in the Indian market, and set up one the most advanced manufacturing plants in the Tetra Pak world, in Chakan. It focused on making food safe and available everywhere, co-creating and conceptualizing products with customers to suit evolving market needs.
  • Carton packaging has traditionally been associated with plain white milk and with juices, nectars and still drinks. However, the benefits of packaging technology have enabled expansion into many more categories, like liquor, coconut water, other liquid dairy products like buttermilk, lassi and drinking yogurt and even Oral Rehydration Solutions. So Tetra Pak is not just innovating on packaging, but also helping brand owners to formulate, test and refine new product recipes.
  • Parle Agro, was the first company to introduce fruit drinks in a carton format. Since then Tetra Pak has partnered the who’s who of the Indian F&B industry including the likes of Amul, Nestle India, Dabur and Coca-Cola India, Frooti, Amul, Mother Dairy, Dabur and Karnataka Milk Federation. It now offers the F&B industry over 20 packages that serve different purposes and needs.
  • It is also the only end-to-end solutions provider that offers F&B brands customers fully-integrated solutions – from Pre-processing and Processing, Packaging, Recipe formulation and Testing, to a range of services. Tetra Pak’s Processing Solutions operates within six categories: dairy, cheese, ice cream, beverage, prepared food and cosmetics.

Tetra Pak’s deep understanding of their customers’ business needs, their technical capability and their strong local presence has given them a position of market leadership, and they are working on what they do best-innovating constantly and building the future.
