Yum Brands re-draws its expansion plans in India

Yum Brands has a presence in India with its three subsidiaries, namely, Taco Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut. Mexican company prefers to increase its presence of Taco Bell over Pizza Hut, internationally. Yum-owned KFC’s thin crust pizzas or chicken wings would be perfect for appetizers, as the Kentucky-based company redraws its expansion plans.
  • Taco Bell is the smallest brand in India compared to Pizza Hut and KFC.
  • Yum Brands Inc. global CEO Greg Creed said the team has opened huge opportunities for growth and expansion in India.
  • So, the Yum brands are making significant changes by downsizing Pizza Hut and stepping up the Taco Bell.
  • Yum Brands also had changed its disclosure levels by integrating all the three brands with their global divisions instead of reporting as a combined entity.
  • The brand’s new store development will be the first priority, as its aims to increase the franchising from 94% currently to 96% in 2018, KFC opened 202 units and Pizza Hut opened 103 units in the market.
During the quarter, Taco Bell opened 15 international units in seven countries, including the growth markets of Brazil, India, China and Canada. For the second quarter, Yum Brands reported worldwide system sales growth of 6%, with KFC and Taco Bell at 7% and Pizza Hut at 2%.
