Ahead of Gudi Padwa, vehicle registration zooms

  • Ahead of Gudi Padwa, the Maharashtrian new year, Regional Transport offices (RTO) in Mumbai have reported an increase of 14-19% in the registration of cars and bikes.
  • Customers prefer registering their vehicles early in the week so that they get the new vehicles delivered on this day, as they regard it auspicious.
  • Customers are seen insisting on delivery of vehicles on Gudi Padwa.
  • Applicants are seen applying for special number plates at a premium price.
  • Purchasing new property, shifting to a new flat, buying electronic goods & jewellery
    is also seen as a positive impact during this auspicious day.
  • Consumers have also seen upgrading to electronic goods like air coolers, air conditioners, fridge at their home, due to special festive offers made by dealers.
  • The purchase of new automobiles usually peaks during Gudi Padwa, Akshaya Tritiya, Dussehra & Diwali, which are considered auspicious days.
  • The vehicle registration almost doubles during Gudi Padwa & Dussehra.
  • 800 cars & 2000 bikes were registered in Mumbai last week, which otherwise on normal days are around 100 cars & 240 bikes daily.
